Panic! at the Disco is a band that originated in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA whose sound incorporates elements of pop, electronica, dance, rock, along with many others. Their 2005 debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out reached #13 on the US Billboard 200, and has sold over one million copies since its September 2005 release.

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out is the debut album by Panic! at the Disco, released on September 27, 2005 by Fueled by Ramen. The album primarily deals with social issues that the band points on through various songs. Topics such as sanctity of marriage, adultery, drug addiction, prostitution, and religion are woven throughout the album. Guitarist Ryan Ross also relates two of the songs, to living with an alcoholic father.

Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics

"I Write Sins Not Tragedies"

Oh, well imagine, as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
and I can't help but to hear,
no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words:
"What a beautiful wedding!
What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
"And yes, but what a shame,
what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore."

I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of...

Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way,
I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast,
so pour the champagne
Oh! Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way,
I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne,
pour the champagne

I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Again...

I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Again...
