Hawthorne Heights(originally known as "A Day in the Life") is a post-hardcore band formed in June 2001 which came from Dayton, Ohio. In the course of using a new the band name they've also decided to change its music and lineup. The band name came from the author Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Their first album "The Silence in Black and White", was released in 2004. The album sales was slow at first but when the song "Ohio Is for Lovers" was played on MTV and get popularity radio airplay, the album became the highest selling debut on Victory Records. This album ranked at #56 on the Billboard Charts. Hawthorne Heights music continues to gain popularity among teens and young adults entranced with the emo and post hardcore scene.
